Tropical Cyclone Rita was named yesterday evening by Fiji and has intensified quickly through the day to become a Severe Tropical Cyclone (Category 3). The system may intensify a little more in the coming 6-12 hours as it tracks SSE.
From lunch time tomorrow the system will likely weaken as it begins encountering an increasingly unfriendly environment. Being such a small system the weakening could actually be just as rapid as its strengthening phase was.
Details about this system can be found in the public video below issued 25th November at 7:00PM QLD time.
